____________________________________________________________________On June 13, 2024, 5,292 applicants were invited to apply for a Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189). However, there were no invitations for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) under the Family Sponsored stream. The results of this round were surprising, as many occupations received invitations for the first time since December 2022.
The big winners were applicants working in the building industry, such as Painting Trades Workers, Plumbers, Roof Plumbers, Stonemasons, Wall and Floor Tilers, Bricklayers, Cabinetmakers, Carpenters, Carpenters and Joiners, Drainers, Electricians, Fibrous Plasterers, Gasfitters, Glaziers, Joiners, and Lift Mechanics. These occupations received invitations with just 65 points. On the other hand, the big losers were teachers and medical experts, for whom the minimum required points significantly increased.
