____________________________________________________________________ The NSW Government has announced the opening of its skilled visa nomination program for the 2024-25 year. The program introduces several key updates aimed at simplifying the process and expanding opportunities for skilled migrants and their families to settle in NSW. Key Program Updates: NSW Priority Sectors: The program focuses on sectors critical to addressing ongoing skill shortages and industries undergoing structural change. Priority areas include Construction (infrastructure and housing), Renewables (clean energy), the Care Economy (aged care, disability services, early childhood education), Digital and Cyber, Education (teachers), Agriculture, Agrifood, and Advanced Manufacturing. Published Skills Lists: NSW has released updated skills lists for 2024-25, organized by ANZSCO unit groups. These lists outline the occupations eligible for nomination under the Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190) and the Skilled Work Regional Visa (subclass 491). Invitation Rounds for Subclass 190: Regular invitation rounds for NSW nominations under the subclass 190 visa will commence soon. NSW Nomination for Subclass 491: Pathways 1 and 3 for the Skilled Work Regional Visa (subclass 491) will open soon, with detailed eligibility criteria available online. A new direct application pathway for recent graduates from select regional NSW institutions (Pathway 3) has also been introduced. TSMIT Concession for Subclass 491: Certain occupations may qualify for a 10% concession on the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) under Pathway 1, easing income requirement barriers for eligible applicants. Updated Skilled Employment Criteria: NSW has simplified its approach to skilled employment by adopting the Home Affairs definition. Applicants are advised to seek guidance from migration agents regarding employment claims. EOI Submission Changes: NSW has lifted restrictions on submitting EOIs in SkillSelect. From now on, any valid EOI with NSW selected will be considered in invitation rounds, provided it is complete and visible.
